Cook simple
A meal does not need restaurant standards to be useful.
If a high standard makes cooking feel impossible, lower the standard for that meal. This is a personal strategy, not a claim about why most people order delivery.
The goal does not have to be recreating restaurant food or proving that home food is always faster, cheaper, hotter, or better. It can simply be preparing something you are willing to eat with the time and ingredients available.
A smaller menu
- Eggs, toast, or cereal if those work for you.
- Rice, noodles, or a sandwich with one available addition.
- A frozen or prepared option cooked according to its instructions.
- Leftovers that were stored and reheated safely. [1][2]
Taste, nutrition, dietary needs, ability, equipment, budget, and time differ. Choose an option appropriate for you; simple does not mean ignoring allergies, medical needs, or food safety.
If you genuinely decide not to place an order, Ordeal can record the amount you estimate you avoided spending. That record is not proof of savings until checked against actual spending.
Simple and safe is enough for some nights.
